A cultural visit to the Château de Lourmarin
Built by the d’Agoul family, the Château de Lourmarin was restored between 1921 and 1923 and now houses a cultural foundation. This iconic venue offers exhibitions and events throughout the year.
Since 1929, the Château de Lourmarin has been hosting artists in residence, in accordance with the wish of Robert Laurent-Vibert. Nearly 600 creators have been provided with accommodation and work spaces to develop their art.
What you can discover
Walking through the rooms of the castle of Lourmarin, you can admire remarkable period furniture from the 16th to 19th century, engravings, art objects and musical instruments. A game of tracing is offered to young visitors for a fun discovery of the place.
From the outside, you can go around the castle and enjoy its beautiful garden, a true green setting that sublimates the architecture of the site. Located high up, the castle also offers a superb view of the surrounding landscapes, an ideal setting for a stroll or a contemplative break.
At the entrance of the estate, below the castle, there is a wine cellar, accessible without having to enter the building. The cellar itself is worth a visit for its authentic atmosphere and its integration into the historic setting of the castle.

Lourmarin, a village of character
Ranked among the most beautiful villages in France, Lourmarin seduces with its picturesque streets, art galleries, craft shops and Provencal markets. This dynamic village, located in the heart of the Luberon, is a popular meeting place for artists and writers.
Dominated by the Château de Lourmarin, this village has a fascinating history dating back to prehistoric times. The village flourished in the 11th century thanks to its strategic position between the Grand and the Petit Luberon. It was strongly marked by the arrival of the Vaudois in the 15th century, before suffering persecution in the 16th century. After a period of decline, Lourmarin regained its dynamism in the 17th century thanks to silk production and the development of its crafts.
Today, Lourmarin attracts visitors for its enchanting setting and peaceful atmosphere. Its small shaded squares, lively terraces and preserved architectural heritage make it an ideal destination for a getaway in Provence. Do not miss every Friday morning its weekly market, one of the most famous in the Luberon, where you can find local products, spices and Provencal crafts. A visit to the Château de Lourmarin is essential to understand the history and soul of this exceptional place.
