THE ESPARRON BOTANICAL TRAIL
In the heart of the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence, this hike is ideal for those who like to combine natural discovery with physical activity. Its moderate level of difficulty makes it a suitable option for hikers looking for a bit of a challenge while enjoying a soothing setting.
What’s more, this area is particularly popular for outdoor walks.
From July to September, the flora is in full bloom, making this the perfect time to explore this trail. And if you’re bringing your faithful four-legged companion, dogs are welcome, and in some areas they can even walk off-leash.

This hike takes you on a loop around the magnificent Château d’Esparron-de-Verdon, a historic monument overlooking the village. The trail starts in the heart of the village and guides you through varied landscapes, between forests and hills. Along the way, you’ll enjoy spectacular views of the lake and castle, which bear witness to the region’s medieval history. The hike, which lasts around 2 hours, offers total immersion in nature and local history, ideal for a leisurely stroll.

LAC D’ESPARRON-DE-VERDON

As you follow the shores of the crystal-clear lake, you’ll enjoy superb panoramas and a soothing ambience. It’s a perfect place to observe local wildlife while walking or running, but being so popular, you’re likely to come across other visitors along the way.
The best time to explore this trail is from March to November. Dogs are welcome on this trail, provided they are kept on a leash.
