Located between the Massif des Bornes and the Aravis range, the Grand-Bornand is a must-see destination for holidays in Haute-Savoie, which combine charm and authenticity. It promises mountainous landscapes and varied hiking routes. Are you a beginner hiker? Or rather a seasoned walker? The hiking trails of the Grand-Bornand reserve you unique experiences. To fully enjoy it, you can opt for a stay in our campsite Le Clos du Pin, located 1.5 km from this Savoyard village. Here is an overview of the best hikes not to be missed from our establishment.

Le refuge de la Pointe Percée

Reserved for experienced walkers, this hike takes you on a beautiful ridge trail that connects several peaks of the Aravis. You will start your hike at the Tête des Annes (1,869 m), then continue with the Pointe des Delevrets (1,966 m) and the Col de l’Oulettaz, located below the Pointe de Rouelletaz (2,077 m). Between the Grand-Bornand and Le Reposoir, you will have exceptional views of both valleys. The loop then continues in a mineral universe, where lapiaz and boulders form natural steps, guiding your ascent. During the hike, you will reach the Refuge de la Pointe Percée, the view of the massifs of Mont Blanc, Bargy and Aravis will reward your efforts.

Balcon des Côtes

You are looking for a hike accessible to all, perfect for a day with family or friends in the Grand-Bornand? This route promises you an exceptional view of the Grand-Bornand valley and the surrounding mountains. The start is from the village at Place de la Grenette. Afterwards, direction La Table d’Orientation via Villeneuve. At the crossroads of La Table d’Orientation, enjoy the landscapes that are available to you on this route. Finally, return to the Grand-Bornand by taking a balcony trail. The panoramic view of the village and the Aravis mountain range will make you happy.

Le pont des Romains

Do you need oxygenation and physical activity in the Grand-Bornand? Discover the Pont des Romains. With its 20 meters high, it is a silent witness of history. As its name suggests, it stands on the old Roman road leading to the col de la Colombière, spanning the Nant du Chinaillon.

Following the course of the Borne, you gradually leave the hustle and bustle of the recreation area to engage on a shady path, where light filters through the trees. As the route progresses, the vegetation becomes clearer, finally revealing this stone bridge full of mystery. Set above the waters of the Chinaillon torrent, it offers a peaceful setting, ideal for a refreshing break. Perfect for taking beautiful photos, it is a place where time seems suspended, inviting to serenity.

Tour du Mont Lachat de Châtillon

Cross the vast green alpine pastures of the valleys of Chinaillon and Maroly, while enjoying a breathtaking view of the Aravis range. The hike starts at the arrival station of the Rosay cable car in Grand-Bornand and guides you along the south balcony of Lachat, up to the Châtillon pass. On this route, you will discover wild combos and peaks, some of which culminate at 2,750 meters.

During your walk, you will immerse yourself in the authenticity of the pastoral life of the Aravis. The alpine pastures, dotted with flocks, resound with the tinkling of clarinets, reminding you that you are at the heart of the terroir of the farmer’s Reblochon. The alp of Maroly, in particular, is home to Neige, an Abondance cow that became famous after being the face of the Agricultural Fair in 2021.Mont Lachat de Châtillon dominates the landscape of Le Grand-Bornand. At 2,050 meters above sea level, its balconies reveal various panoramas: on one side, the Bargy massif rises with power, on the other, the chain of Aravis and Mont-Blanc extend as far as the eye can see. A hike that combines unspoilt nature, pastoral traditions and breathtaking landscapes.
